Metal industry fairs

Many sub-sectors of the metalworking industry are included with the economic sectors "Metal production and processing" and "Manufacture of fabricated metal products". Metal production and processing includes the production of pig iron, steel and non-ferrous metal production and its processing: cold drawing, forging, drawing. The production of metal products is divided by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy into the following divisions: steel industry, non-ferrous metal industry, foundry industry, and steel and metal processing.

The heyday of the coal and steel industry in Germany is long gone. However, Germany continues to be one of the country's main economic pillars for the metalworking industry for all stakeholders. In particular, the know-how of small and medium-sized enterprises, established networks in the value chain and political reliability ensure the attractiveness of Germany as a business location.

In Germany - as the No. 1 trade fair country - the most important leading trade fairs are also held in the metalworking sector. In the following you will find three examples.

About the CWIEME in Berlin

CWIEME is the acronym for "Coil Winding, Insulation and Electrical Manufacturing Exhibition" and is a trade show for the coil winding, electric motor, transformer, generator and electric mobility industries.

A must for all stakeholders of components, production technologies and raw materials as a supply chain for coil windings, generators transformers, electric motors and electric mobility technologies. Exhibitors and visitors come from EMEA (Europe, Middle-East Africa), Asia and the Americas. In addition to CWIEME in Berlin, Hyve Group also organizes CWIEME in Shanghai and Chicago every year.

In addition to the showcase, which takes place in four halls of the Berlin exhibition center, the organizer also offers a matchmaking service that connects buyers, CEOs and engineers with suitable exhibitors. For this purpose, the Connect app was developed for 2020.

In recent years, CWIEME has developed from a rather visually "boring and nerdy" trade fair to a very chic leading trade fair for the industry. Those who have regularly visited the fair have noticed that the booths have become more and more attractive and eye-catching from year to year. Booths have increased in exclusivity with privately held meeting booths, meet & greet areas, elaborate displays and exhibits.

Visitor behavior at Cwieme 2019 in Berlin

With the Event Metrics data, it can be determined that the first day of CWIEME is used for visitors to look around the show, gather impressions of the booths and also look at them several times. On this "walking around day", the number of visitors is evenly distributed throughout the day.

The second day of CWIEME is the busiest day and visitors spend more time with the exhibitors' products and services. Thus, the average time spent at the booth comprises about 25 minutes. During the presentation times at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., dips in visitor numbers can be observed.

The third day of the fair is the last day of this three-day event and the least visited day of the fair. Thus, there is also a decrease in the number of visitors to the exhibition booths. In addition to the number of visitors, the average duration of discussions also decreases. The median here is 20 minutes and becomes even shorter towards the afternoon.
